Cancer Awareness, Research, and Education (CARE)
A nonprofit dedicated to supporting pediatric cancer patients, raising awareness, and honoring personal stories of hope and survival.
Our mission is to bring comfort, awareness, and education to families impacted by cancer, by delivering monthly donation baskets to pediatric hospitals, providing resources, and honoring the stories of survivors and loved ones.
We envision a world where every child battling cancer feels supported, loved, and empowered by their community.

CARE: Cancer Awareness, Research, and Education began as more than just a school club — it was a deeply personal mission. I started CARE in honor of the strong, resilient people in my life who have battled cancer, especially my grandmother, a 17-year breast cancer survivor; my mother, who courageously fought breast cancer not once but twice in the past three years; and my cousin, who passed away from hepatoblastoma as a child in 2000. Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital, the place that cared for my cousin during his battle, has remained close to my heart ever since.
In my junior year of high school, I brought this idea to three of my closest friends. Together, we built CARE into an official school club, where our mission quickly grew beyond what we imagined. After organizing our first donation drive — creating comfort baskets filled with toys and essential items for the children at Joe DiMaggio — we witnessed the incredible impact a simple act of kindness could have. That moment changed everything. We realized this wasn’t just a one-time project. This was our calling.
CARE is for the kids fighting battles no child should have to face. It’s for the families who need to know they’re not alone. And it’s for the people we’ve loved and lost, and for those still fighting. This nonprofit is a living tribute to them. Through CARE, I hope to bring comfort, smiles, and strength to as many children and families as we can — and to turn our personal stories into powerful support for others.

This club started in honor of my grandmother, a 17-year breast cancer survivor; my mother, who has bravely faced breast cancer twice in the past three years; and my cousin, who passed away from hepatoblastoma as a child. Their courage and resilience inspired me to turn a personal mission into something greater. In my junior year of high school, I started CARE with three close friends, and what began as a small school club quickly grew into a larger movement. From organizing comfort basket drives for children at Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital to creating a supportive community for families, I lead CARE with the hope of turning personal stories into powerful action bringing comfort, strength, and hope to those affected by cancer.

Hi everyone! I’m CARE’s Vice President. I wanted to start this club to create a comforting foundation for individuals who have been affected by cancer; indirectly or directly. My grandpa fought a quick battle with stomach cancer and his passing affected my family tremendously. I was only 9 but this phase in my life is one I will never forget. My goal is to help support others so that they remember the good memories and the happy times. I understand what it’s like to grieve a loved one but I also don’t want anyone to do it alone. I hope one day we live in a cancer-free world but until then we can be here for you and your family to make the process easier. While we may not have the cure to cancer, we will do everything in our power to calm your hearts and minds.

Care Club has been such a meaningful part of my high school experience. As Treasurer, I make sure our fundraisers and donation drives run smoothly. To me, Care Club is not just about raising awareness of cancer but also about showing compassion and providing support to those who need it most. I hope that in the future there will be even more open conversations about cancer, better resources for patients and families, and stronger student-led efforts to spread awareness. I am proud to play a role in this club, and I look forward to seeing the impact we can continue to make together.

Hi everyone! I’m the secretary for CARE club. I have such a special place in my heart for this club because I think it is so important to spread awareness about cancer as it effects and impacts the lives of so many families. I’ve lost many loved ones and close friends to this disease and seen first hand how destructive it is to one’s life and all those around them. By spreading word and awareness about our club, we attempt to aid those sick in the hospital and let them know they are never fighting this battle alone. I think everyone should be a part of this club because it truly sheds light on the shaded parts of our world.

Hello everyone I am a senior at Pompano Beach High School and currently serve as the Project Manager for the C.A.R.E club. My dedication to spreading awareness about cancer is rooted in experiences that have shaped both my perspective and my purpose.
That passion first became personal when my childhood friend was diagnosed with brain cancer in fourth grade. She battled bravely for years until her passing during our sophomore year, and her strength continues to inspire me every day. This experience led to raise $80,000 through the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, funding critical patient support, resources, and hope. These experiences fuel my commitment to CARE’s mission of raising awareness and supporting families impacted by cancer.
